Ritman University, Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State, has inaugurated a 156KVA Solar Independent Power Plant as part of efforts to enhance uninterrupted electricity supply and promote renewable energy within the institution.
The project was unveiled by the Founder of the university, Senator Emmanuel Ibokessien, who said the initiative was developed through research and innovation to provide reliable power for the university, his residence and a nearby church.
He noted that the investment reflects the institution’s commitment to environmental sustainability, academic excellence and the creation of a conducive environment for teaching, learning and research.
Senator Ibokessien also commended Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, for providing an enabling environment that encourages private investment and infrastructure development across the state.
The inauguration was witnessed by members of the Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District Media Advocates (ISDMA), who visited the university to appreciate the founder for his leadership and support.
Speaking during the visit, ISDMA President, Emma Akpabio, described the solar power project as another milestone that demonstrates Senator Ibokessien’s commitment to educational development, innovation and sustainable growth in Akwa Ibom State.
Akpabio also thanked the university founder for his support during the group’s maiden Leadership Anniversary Summit, where he served as chairman of the occasion, noting that his contributions have strengthened ISDMA’s commitment to promoting responsible media advocacy, good governance and regional development.
Members of the ISDMA delegation included Dr Amanam Hillary, Emineimo Ekiko, Oku Udoetor, Ime Jacob, Daniel Edward, Mfonobong Ukpong, Juliana Leo and Akanimo Kingsley.
