Gunmen have shot dead Letam Kine, a former Chief Security Officer of Bori, the headquarters of Khana Local Government Area in Rivers State.

RismadarVoice Reporters gathered that the attack occurred on Sunday evening along Polytechnic Road in Bori. Residents suspect the assailants were cultists who opened fire on the victim before fleeing into nearby bushes.

Eyewitnesses who asked for anonymity said the shooting caused panic as residents, business owners and passers-by fled for safety, ty and Kine’s lifeless body was later discovered at the scene.

The incident temporarily disrupted commercial and social activities in the area, although normalcy has since returned. However, many residents, particularly students of Ken Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic, remain concerned over the killing.

Reacting to the incident, Khana Local Government Chairman, Dr Thomas Bariere, condemned the attack, describing it as a senseless act of violence with no place in a peaceful society.

He noted that the killing came only weeks after the murder of another resident, Clement Deegbara, warning that the repeated attacks suggest the activities of armed criminal gangs determined to undermine peace in the area.

Bariere called on security agencies to intensify operations, conduct a thorough investigation and ensure that those responsible are arrested and prosecuted.

Meanwhile, the Rivers State Police Command confirmed the incident, where the spokesperson, SP Blessing Agabe, said the victim’s body has been deposited in a morgue, while patrols have been intensified and investigations are ongoing to apprehend the perpetrators.
