The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has deployed Commissioner of Police Samuel Erale Etaifo as the Commissioner of Police in charge of election security for the forthcoming Osun State governorship election.

The deployment, announced on Friday, forms part of the Force’s election security strategy aimed at ensuring a peaceful, secure and credible electoral process.

According to the Police, CP Etaifo will coordinate and oversee all election security operations across Osun State, working closely with other security agencies and relevant stakeholders to protect voters, election personnel and electoral materials.

The Force clarified that the Commissioner of Police in charge of the Osun State Command, CP Ibrahim Gotan, will remain responsible for routine policing and the overall administration of the command while providing operational and logistical support for the election security mission.

The Nigeria Police Force also directed officers deployed for election duties to maintain professionalism, impartiality and strict adherence to the law, including compliance with the Code of Conduct for Security Personnel on Electoral Duty.

Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, called on residents, political parties and other stakeholders to remain peaceful, obey the law and cooperate with security agencies to ensure a free, fair and peaceful governorship election in the state.
