RIVERS POLICE REMOVE DPO, ORDER INVESTIGATION OVER MISCONDUCT ALLEGATIONS

The Rivers State Police Command has ordered an immediate investigation into allegations of misconduct involving a Divisional Police Officer (DPO) following the circulation of an online publication accusing the officer of wrongdoing.

In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Agabe Blessing Kaborlo, the Command said it had become aware of the allegations being circulated across various online platforms and had taken swift action in response.

According to the statement, the officer at the centre of the allegations has been removed from his position pending the outcome of a comprehensive and impartial investigation.

The Command stated that the decision was taken in line with its commitment to transparency, accountability, and professionalism in the discharge of its duties.

Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Command, CP Olugbenga A. Adepoju, expressed deep concern over the incident and reiterated the Command’s zero-tolerance stance on misconduct and abuse of office.

He emphasised that any action capable of undermining public trust and confidence in the Nigeria Police Force would not be condoned.

The Commissioner further assured members of the public that the investigation would be conducted diligently, professionally, and without bias to ensure that the facts surrounding the allegations are thoroughly established.

The Rivers State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining discipline within its ranks and upholding the highest standards of integrity and service to the public.
