Comptroller Omata Kadiri has assumed office as the new Customs Area Controller of the Plateau/Benue/Nasarawa Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), promising to strengthen service delivery, uphold professionalism and build on the achievements of his predecessor.
Kadiri formally took over from the outgoing Area Controller, Comptroller Garba Bashir, during a handover ceremony held at the Customs House in Dogon Karfe, Jos.
The ceremony was attended by officers and personnel of the command.

Speaking on behalf of the outgoing controller, the Acting Deputy Comptroller of Administration, Assistant Comptroller of Customs Yakubu Mohammed, congratulated Kadiri on his appointment and commended officers of the command for their dedication during Bashir’s tenure.
Mohammed urged personnel to give the new Area Controller the same level of cooperation, loyalty and commitment extended to his predecessor to ensure a smooth transition and continuity in the command’s operations.
In his remarks, Kadiri expressed appreciation to God, the Comptroller-General of Customs and the management of the service for the confidence placed in him.
He pledged to consolidate the gains recorded under the previous administration while working to improve the command’s overall performance.
The new controller also assured officers and stakeholders of his commitment to efficient service delivery, professionalism and peaceful relations within the command.

Kadiri urged personnel to maintain high standards of discipline and professionalism in carrying out their responsibilities, stressing that teamwork would be crucial to achieving the objectives of the Nigeria Customs Service.
“With teamwork, we will together achieve the service mandate,” he said.
