The Kwara State Government has approved the 2026 bursary award for eligible indigenes studying in tertiary institutions across Nigeria, as part of efforts to ease the financial burden of higher education.
The Kwara State Scholarship Board announced the approval in a statement on Saturday, confirming that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq had authorised the intervention to support students and their families.
According to the latest announcement, applications are scheduled to commence on Monday, November 2, and close on Monday, November 16, 2026.

The board directed prospective beneficiaries to submit their applications through its official website, scholarship.kwarastate.gov.ng.
It urged students to provide accurate and verifiable information and comply with the registration requirements to avoid delays or disqualification.
The bursary programme is designed to provide financial assistance to students of Kwara origin pursuing higher education at recognised tertiary institutions.
The Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development and Supervising Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Dr Lawal Olohungbebe, commended AbdulRazaq for approving the intervention.
He described the initiative as part of the administration’s commitment to educational development and students’ welfare.
According to the commissioner, the financial assistance would help reduce some education-related expenses borne by parents and guardians while supporting students’ academic progress.
Olohungbebe also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to expanding educational opportunities and improving access to tertiary education.
Meanwhile, information published on the Scholarship Board’s website indicates that applicants may be required to create an online account, verify their National Identification Number and upload supporting documents.

These include a passport photograph, student identification card or admission letter and relevant state identification details.
However, the board’s existing online notices contain differing application deadlines and eligibility conditions.
While the latest announcement gives November 16 as the closing date, other official pages display November 8 and November 9.
One notice also limits eligibility to final-year students in government-owned tertiary institutions, while another states that all eligible Kwara indigenes in tertiary institutions may apply.
Prospective applicants are therefore advised to confirm the applicable requirements and final deadline directly with the Scholarship Board.
The board has encouraged students to complete their applications promptly and ensure that all submitted information is accurate.
