The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the August 15 Osun State governorship election, Bola Oyebamiji, has accepted the outcome of the poll and congratulated Governor Ademola Adeleke.
Adeleke, who contested on the platform of the Accord Party, was declared winner of the election.
Two weeks after the poll, Oyebamiji, in a statement on Saturday, thanked APC members and supporters for their sacrifices, resilience, prayers and support throughout the campaign.
He also expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu, former Osun State Governor Bisi Akande, and the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, for their guidance and support.
While accepting the result, Oyebamiji said the violence recorded during the election must not be forgotten.
“While we accept the outcome of the election and congratulate the winner, we cannot forget the painful incidents of violence and the lives that were lost.”

He mourned victims of political violence and urged security agencies to thoroughly investigate the incidents and prosecute those responsible.
“No political contest should cost any Nigerian their life.”
Oyebamiji maintained that his commitment to the development of Osun State remained unchanged despite the conclusion of the election.
He said where legitimate concerns existed, his camp would continue to pursue justice and fairness through lawful and constitutional means.
The APC candidate also urged party members and supporters to close ranks and strengthen the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He called on APC supporters to mobilise for the re-election of President Tinubu and the success of all APC candidates in Osun State.
Adeleke had earlier extended an olive branch to Oyebamiji and other candidates following his re-election, urging them to put political differences aside and support his administration.
The governor had also described the election as a contest with “no victor, no vanquished” and called on Oyebamiji to congratulate him.
