The Lagos State House of Assembly has resolved to remove Mr Olalekan Onafeko as Clerk of the House with immediate effect.
The decision followed deliberations by lawmakers and was adopted through a voice vote during plenary on Tuesday, indicating broad support among members.

Speaker of the House, Mr Mudashiru Obasa, who presided over the proceedings, said the action was in line with the established rules governing tenure in the Assembly. He explained that Onafeko’s tenure had elapsed, stressing that the decision was a procedural step rather than a disciplinary measure.
Onafeko had served as Clerk since January 14, 2022, overseeing legislative administration and coordinating the activities of the House. The Speaker commended his contributions, noting that his tenure was marked by key legislative engagements and institutional developments.
Obasa subsequently announced the appointment of Mrs Adenike Osinowo as the new Clerk of the House, with immediate effect.
He expressed confidence in her capacity, stating that her experience would further strengthen legislative processes and enhance administrative efficiency in the Assembly.
Meanwhile, the House confirmed Mrs Latifat Ogbara as Chairman of the Lagos State House of Assembly Service Commission. Lawmakers described her confirmation as well-deserved, citing her competence and track record in public service.

The Assembly also confirmed Mr Remi Bello as a member of the Commission, urging him to support ongoing institutional reforms.
Members charged the new appointees to uphold professionalism, transparency, and dedication in the discharge of their responsibilities.
