President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has emerged as the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 general election after recording a commanding victory in the party’s nationwide primary election.
The APC announced Tinubu as the winner after he polled 10.99 million votes, defeating his sole challenger, Stanley Osifo, who garnered 16,504 votes.
The result reflects a dominant performance by the incumbent president across the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), reinforcing his influence within the ruling party ahead of the next electoral cycle.
Tinubu recorded some of his strongest numbers in key political strongholds, with Lagos State leading with 814,988 votes, followed by Adamawa with 644,149 votes, Kaduna with 618,914 votes, and Imo with 582,960 votes.
Northern states also delivered substantial support for the president, with Kano contributing 500,852 votes, Katsina 467,003, Gombe 450,517, and Borno 414,988 votes.
In the South-South region, Delta State returned 407,646 votes, while Akwa Ibom recorded 389,197 and Bayelsa delivered 227,192 votes.
The South-East equally showed support for Tinubu’s candidacy, with Enugu contributing 383,382 votes, Ebonyi 207,579, Abia 161,005, and Anambra 43,034 votes.
Other notable results included Benue with 374,787 votes, Ogun with 322,485, Zamfara with 321,579, Kwara with 310,990, and Sokoto with 301,000 votes.
The outcome officially positions Tinubu as the APC standard-bearer for the 2027 presidential race, setting the stage for renewed political contests ahead of the general election.
