The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Kwara State chapter, has distanced itself from political endorsements linked to some Christian groups and leaders ahead of the 2027 general elections, insisting that the association remains neutral and non-partisan.
In a statement signed by the Kwara State Chairman of CAN, Bishop Sunday Adewole, the association stated that its major concern is the conduct of peaceful, free, fair, and credible elections across the state and the country at large.

CAN clarified that any political support or alignment expressed by individuals, churches, or Christian organisations should not be mistaken as the official position of the association, stressing that such actions remain personal decisions.
The association further noted that it would continue to promote peace, unity, justice, and harmonious coexistence among residents regardless of political, ethnic, or religious differences, while encouraging responsible civic participation among Christians.

CAN also reiterated its commitment to praying for credible elections and supporting issue-based political engagement capable of sustaining peace and stability ahead of the 2027 polls.
