The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party aligned with Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike has distanced itself from a reported political alliance involving the Allied Peoples Movement in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Addressing journalists in Abuja, PDP National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Mohammed, said the party was not involved in any coalition or political arrangement with the Allied Peoples Movement.

He described the Ibadan gathering as unauthorised and accused allies of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde of attempting to mislead the public about the PDP’s position.
According to Mohammed, individuals participating in the gathering were acting without the approval or consent of the party’s recognised leadership.
The PDP spokesperson also alleged that the event was effectively a celebration of Makinde’s political alignment with the APM, insisting that the governor’s camp had become politically isolated within the party.
Meanwhile, PDP National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, disclosed that legal steps had been initiated against some party figures, including former Senate President Adolphus Wabara, over alleged impersonation of the party leadership.
The development follows ongoing leadership disputes within the PDP after a Supreme Court ruling nullified the party’s convention held in Ibadan in November 2025.

Despite the internal crisis, the Wike-backed faction maintained that the PDP remains united and prepared for the 2027 general elections.
