The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has expressed grief over the death of a former member of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Abba Anas Adamu, who reportedly died after being abducted by bandits along the Kaduna–Abuja highway.

In a statement issued on behalf of the party’s leadership and members nationwide, the ADC described the late politician as a committed public servant and respected grassroots leader whose death represents a painful loss to the party and the country.

The statement, signed by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, said the ADC National Chairman, National Secretary, members of the National Working Committee, and the entire party family received news of his death with deep sorrow.

Alhaji Abba Anas Adamu, a chieftain of the party in Jigawa State, represented the Birniwa/Guri/Kirikasamma Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives between 2007 and 2011.

According to the party, he was widely admired for his humility, calm disposition, accessibility, and dedication to the welfare of his constituents during and after his time in public office.

The ADC noted that his passing was not only a tragedy for his immediate family and the people of Jigawa State but also a major loss to the nation’s democratic and political community.

The party prayed for Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus, and give his family and loved ones the strength to bear the loss.

The ADC further stated that the tragic circumstances surrounding his death underscored the worsening security situation in the country and renewed concerns over persistent attacks and abductions along major highways.
