Two people have been killed and several others injured, including Minneapolis police officers, after a shooting incident at a downtown apartment building in Minneapolis, United States.

Police said officers responded to multiple emergency calls reporting gunfire at the high-rise apartment building on Wednesday afternoon. Upon arrival, officers entered the building and found victims before hearing additional gunshots from an upper floor.

Three Minneapolis police officers were injured during the incident, with two suffering gunshot wounds. Authorities said all three officers were in stable condition after receiving medical treatment.

Officials said one victim died at the scene, while another died after being taken to hospital. The suspected shooter was also found dead, though authorities had not immediately released full details surrounding the circumstances of the death.

Police described encountering a “haze” inside the building that significantly affected visibility as officers moved toward the location of the gunfire. The cause of the haze was not immediately disclosed.

Witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots and seeing a person with a firearm inside the building. Some residents said they had previously raised concerns about the individual believed to be involved in the shooting.

Emergency responders from multiple agencies, including local and federal authorities, assisted Minneapolis police at the scene. The FBI said it would provide resources to support the investigation.

Authorities have continued investigations into the circumstances surrounding the shooting, including the possible motive behind the attack.
