Troops of Sector 2, Operation FASAN YAMMA, have neutralised a suspected terrorist, rescued three kidnapped victims, and recovered arms and other items during ongoing operations against banditry and terrorism in Zamfara State.
The military disclosed that the successes were recorded during operations conducted across Zurmi and Shinkafi Local Government Areas of the state.
According to a statement, troops on a fighting patrol covering Birnin Saba, Yanbuki, and Sabon Garin Daudawa in Zurmi Local Government Area on June 12, 2026, encountered a group of terrorists in Yanbuki District.
A firefight ensued, during which one terrorist was killed. Troops recovered rifles, four magazines loaded with ammunition, two motorcycles, seven mobile phones, two MP3 players, a woodland camouflage trouser, and an inner vest from the scene.
The military said that as troops advanced toward Sabon Garin Daudawa, the terrorists abandoned their camp and fled due to the superior firepower of the advancing forces.
Troops subsequently cleared and destroyed the terrorists’ enclave, further disrupting their activities in the area.
In a related development, troops also rescued three kidnapped victims during operations in the affected local government areas.
Military authorities reiterated their commitment to sustaining offensive operations aimed at eliminating criminal elements, restoring security, and protecting lives and property across Zamfara State and the wider North-West region.
