Former Minister of Transportation, Mu’azu Jaji Sambo, has endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term in office, urging Nigerians to remain patient with the Federal Government’s economic reforms despite the rising cost of living.

Sambo, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Taraba State, made his position known while speaking with journalists at his country home in Jalingo.

The former minister, who coordinated the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council in Taraba during the 2023 election, argued that continuity was necessary to consolidate the administration’s economic policies.

He acknowledged the financial difficulties confronting Nigerians but maintained that the reforms were intended to establish a foundation for long-term economic stability.

According to Sambo, abandoning the ongoing fiscal and structural changes before their expected benefits materialise could undermine the government’s economic recovery objectives.

He expressed confidence that the administration’s policies, combined with increased investment in infrastructure, would eventually improve living standards.

The former minister, who also served as Minister of State for Works and Housing under former President Muhammadu Buhari, said Nigerians deserved clearer explanations of government policies and their intended benefits.

He urged public officials and APC stakeholders to improve communication with citizens, particularly those struggling with higher living expenses.

Sambo argued that government representatives should explain economic decisions in language ordinary Nigerians could understand rather than relying solely on political statements.

He also called for greater public engagement on the administration’s development programmes, saying effective communication was necessary to address concerns about the impact of the reforms.

Speaking on the 2027 general election, Sambo expressed confidence that the APC would secure substantial electoral support across the country.

He maintained that the administration’s infrastructure projects and economic interventions would become more visible as implementation continued.

However, his assessment reflects his political position and expectations rather than an independently established forecast of economic performance or election results.

The endorsement comes as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 general election, with the cost of living, infrastructure development and the effects of government reforms expected to remain prominent issues in public debate.

Sambo’s remarks add to expressions of support for Tinubu’s re-election from figures within the ruling party.
