British comedian and actor Russell Brand has admitted to a past sexual relationship with a 16-year-old when he was 30, describing his actions at the time as “immature.”
Brand disclosed during a recent interview with Megyn Kelly, where he addressed mounting allegations and ongoing criminal charges against him.

He stated that the relationship was consensual and legal under United Kingdom law at the time.
Reflecting on the encounter, Brand acknowledged a “power differential” between himself and the teenager, adding that he had been “selfish” and did not fully consider the potential emotional impact of his actions.
The admission comes amid intensified scrutiny following a 2023 investigation by The Sunday Times and Dispatches, in which an anonymous woman alleged that Brand groomed her and entered into an emotionally abusive relationship when she was 16.
Brand has consistently denied allegations of rape, sexual assault, and other non-consensual acts.

However, in April 2025, UK prosecutors filed multiple charges against him relating to alleged offences between 1999 and 2005. Brand has pleaded not guilty, and the case is expected to proceed to trial.
