The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has refuted claims that its General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has ever campaigned for any government or political party, maintaining that the respected cleric remains non-partisan in political matters.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the church’s Public Relations department, RCCG stressed that Pastor Adeboye has consistently encouraged Christians to participate in the democratic process by obtaining their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and voting according to their convictions, without directing support toward any particular candidate or political party.
The church explained that the pastor’s position has always been to promote responsible citizenship while avoiding partisan political endorsements.

RCCG also addressed reports suggesting that Adeboye played a role in halting a planned protest, describing such claims as inaccurate. According to the church, the cleric merely relayed a directive from the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) concerning adjustments to a previously scheduled three-day prayer programme and rally.
The statement noted that the PFN had instructed member churches to conclude the prayer programme at a central venue and organise a rally within the designated area. RCCG said the directive was communicated to all churches affiliated with the fellowship nationwide.
Responding to allegations that Pastor Adeboye remains silent on pressing national issues, the church stated that the cleric has repeatedly spoken on matters affecting the country, including insecurity, corruption, economic challenges, elections, governance, and the need for ethical leadership.
According to RCCG, Adeboye’s interventions have largely taken the form of spiritual guidance, public prayers, and moral counsel rather than direct political engagement or confrontation.

The church expressed concern over what it described as the repeated circulation of misleading narratives regarding its leader and the denomination, emphasising that neither Pastor Adeboye nor RCCG should be judged based on unverified claims.
It urged media organisations, bloggers, commentators, and members of the public to verify information through the church’s official communication platforms before publishing or sharing reports relating to its activities or positions.
RCCG further clarified that any statement not issued, confirmed, or endorsed through its recognised communication channels should not be regarded as an official position of the church.
