The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has congratulated Rt—Hon. Frederick Agbedi on his emergence as the Minority Leader of the House of Representatives.

The party welcomed the announcement made by the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, during plenary on Thursday.

In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Ini Ememobong, the PDP National Chairman, Kabiru Turaki, SAN, described Agbedi’s emergence as a reflection of the confidence reposed in his leadership abilities.

Turaki said the new Minority Leader is a “trustworthy, firm, irrepressible and principled politician” who remains guided by conviction rather than convenience.

According to the PDP, Agbedi’s appointment is well deserved, given his longstanding commitment to the party and his contributions to legislative development.

Before his emergence as Minority Leader, Agbedi, who represents Sagbama/Ekeremor Federal Constituency of Bayelsa State, served as Leader of the PDP Caucus in the House of Representatives.

He also previously served as Chairman of the PDP in Bayelsa State and has remained a loyal member of the party, consistently advocating for its role as a vibrant opposition platform.

The PDP expressed confidence that Agbedi would deploy his experience, competence, and leadership qualities to advance the work of the House of Representatives and promote the interests of Nigerians.

The party further wished him success in his new role and pledged its support as he undertakes the responsibilities of leading the opposition caucus in the Green Chamber.
