The councillor representing Ogugu Ward III in Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State, Rosemary Aduku, has reportedly died after spending several days in captivity.
Her death was announced by the Chairman of Olamaboro Local Government Council, Dr Ameh Williams, in a statement issued on behalf of the council’s executive.
The circumstances surrounding her abduction, detention and eventual death were not disclosed in the statement.
Aduku, popularly known as Hon. Rosella, was described by the council chairman as a humble, dependable and compassionate public servant who maintained cordial relationships with colleagues and members of her community.

Williams expressed sadness over her death, describing it as a painful loss to the local government and the people of Ogugu Ward III.
He said the deceased would be remembered for her commitment to public service, kindness and contributions to the welfare of those around her.
The chairman extended condolences to her family, members of the Olamaboro 8th Legislative Council, the local government executive and residents of Ogugu District.
According to the statement, her burial was scheduled for 1 p.m. on Friday at her family compound in Ogugu Centre.

Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), political associates and other sympathisers were invited to pay their last respects.
The statement did not provide details about those responsible for her captivity or indicate whether any arrests had been made.
The exact circumstances of her death remain unclear.
