The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has reiterated the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to strengthening institutional partnerships as he received the Director-General of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Professor Ayo Omotayo, at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
The meeting, held on Thursday, April 16, 2026, focused on exploring avenues for strategic collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force and the nation’s apex policy think tank.
Professor Omotayo was accompanied by a former Deputy Inspector-General of Police, DIG ‘Leye Oyebade (Rtd), and Dr. Garba Malumfashi.
Discussions centred on deepening cooperation in key areas, including national security, strategic leadership, capacity development, and policy support.
In his remarks, the NIPSS Director-General described the Institute as Nigeria’s foremost policy think tank operating under the Presidency, with a mandate to drive high-level research, strategic reflection, and policy formulation. He noted that the Institute serves as a critical platform for engaging top government officials and technocrats in shaping national development and governance.
Responding, IGP Disu welcomed the delegation, emphasized the importance of collaboration between security agencies and policy institutions in addressing evolving security challenges.
He reaffirmed the Police Force’s commitment to intelligence-led policing, continuous capacity building, and ongoing reforms aimed at enhancing professionalism and service delivery.
The Inspector-General also assured the delegation of the Force’s readiness to partner with NIPSS in advancing research, policy development, and leadership initiatives to strengthen internal security and governance in the country.
