Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, is set to commission the Ibom Agricultural Equipment Leasing Facility as part of efforts to boost mechanised farming and strengthen food security in the state.

According to a press release issued on April 28, 2026, by the Commissioner for Information, Hon. Aniekan Umanah, the commissioning will take place on Wednesday, April 29, at 12:00 noon at Ekpri Nsukara in Uyo.

The facility, developed under the Ministry of Agriculture in collaboration with the Agribusiness Unit of the Governor’s Office, is a key initiative of the Eno administration aimed at accelerating agricultural mechanisation and promoting commercial farming.

The project aligns with the Agricultural Revolution component of the ARISE Agenda, which also includes programmes such as the Food Security Initiative, farmers’ grants, the Ibom Model Farm, and the Tree Crop Revolution.

Described as a central hub for agricultural mechanisation, the facility will provide equipment leasing services for land preparation as well as technical support to farmers, cooperatives, and agribusiness operators across the state.

It is equipped with modern infrastructure, including administrative buildings, a maintenance workshop, tractor sheds, a fleet of tractors with implements, and two low-bed trailers to aid efficient deployment.

The government noted that the project is expected to bridge the mechanisation gap in the state, improve agricultural productivity, enhance value chain activities, and create employment opportunities.

It added that the initiative would further support the state’s broader goals of achieving food security, economic diversification, and sustainable growth.
