The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) says the series of economic reforms introduced over the past 34 months has established a solid foundation for long-term economic growth, financial stability and inclusive national development.
According to the apex bank, the policy measures are already yielding positive results through improved macroeconomic conditions, expanded employment opportunities and efforts aimed at reducing poverty.
The CBN hosted its Fair held in Bauchi, themed “Driving Alternative Payment Channels as Tools for Financial Inclusion, Growth and Accelerated Economic Development.”

Speaking at the event, the Acting Director of Corporate Communications and Investor Relations, Hakama Sidi Ali, said the reforms were carefully designed to reposition Nigeria’s economy for sustainable expansion.
Represented by Deputy Director Michael Dalyop, Sidi Ali highlighted several key initiatives undertaken by the bank, including foreign exchange market unification, banking sector recapitalisation, expansion of digital financial infrastructure, improved liquidity management, benchmark standardisation and the adoption of forward-looking monetary policies.
She reaffirmed the commitment of the Central Bank, under the leadership of Governor Olayemi Cardoso, to maintaining monetary and price stability while supporting broader economic development in line with its statutory mandate.
Earlier, the Bauchi Branch Controller of the CBN, Michael Dalyop, represented by Assistant Director Salahu Bello Mohammed, said the bank’s 2024–2028 strategic plan prioritises financial inclusion and greater access to formal financial services.
According to him, the strategy is intended to empower micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as larger businesses, by improving access to financial resources needed to boost productivity and increase their contribution to Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

CBN officials also urged members of the public to rely on verified information from credible sources and comply with regulations governing the use of the naira and other monetary policies.
The Bauchi edition of the CBN Fair forms part of a nationwide public enlightenment campaign designed to educate stakeholders on the bank’s policies, digital payment initiatives and financial inclusion programmes. Meanwhile, similar engagements have previously been held in Lagos, Kano, Kaduna, Uyo and Gombe.
