Nigerian sprinter, Favour Ashe has expressed confidence in his return to top form following Team Nigeria’s silver-medal finish in the men’s 4x100m relay event at the Senior African Athletics Championship in Accra.
The athlete, popularly known as the “Nigerian Nightmare,” described the result as the beginning of a stronger phase in his career, stating that the performance reflected the team’s determination and potential for greater success in future competitions.

According to him, efforts are in place to ensure a great turnout and positive result in all their competitions, stressing that he will continue to prepare alongside other team members for progress and advancement.
Despite settling for silver, Ashe said the team had set its sights on winning gold but admitted that a shaky final baton exchange affected the outcome of the race. He, however, praised the team for securing a place on the podium and maintaining a positive outlook.

Reflecting on his personal journey, the sprinter revealed that the last 18 months had been challenging but noted that the difficult period had strengthened his resolve to return stronger. Ashe added that his major focus now is the Commonwealth Games, where he hopes to build on his recent progress through discipline, consistency and hard work.
