Sixteen-year-old Daniella Owoeye, who emerged as the overall best candidate in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) with a score of 372, has attributed her outstanding performance to discipline, consistency and an intensive study routine of about eight hours daily.

The former student of EFVP Wisdom Spring Model School, Ota, said her preparation began shortly after completing secondary school, explaining that a previous examination experience motivated her to intensify her efforts and adopt a more structured approach to studying.

Owoeye disclosed that she relied on a combination of study materials, computer-based test applications, online tutorials, educational videos and past examination questions to strengthen her preparation.

According to her, personal study played a greater role in her success, as she regularly revised lessons and carried out independent research guided by the examination syllabus.

The aspiring medical doctor, who chose the University of Lagos to pursue Medicine and Surgery, encouraged students to remain disciplined and believe in their abilities regardless of challenges.

She also urged young girls to strive for excellence and break barriers by competing for top academic positions.

Owoeye further acknowledged the support of her parents, noting that their encouragement, prayers and provision of learning resources contributed significantly to her achievement.
