The Social Democratic Party (SDP) presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections, Prince Adewole Adebayo, has condemned renewed killings in Plateau State, urging the federal and state governments to take decisive action to protect lives and restore peace in affected communities.
Adebayo criticised the response of President Bola Tinubu’s administration to persistent insecurity, while calling on Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang to strengthen security measures and reassure residents facing repeated attacks.
His position was contained in a statement issued in Abuja on Monday by Mark Adebayo, Chief Media and Communications Adviser to the Adebayo-Bugaje Presidential Campaign Council.

The presidential candidate expressed concern over the human cost of the violence, claiming that hundreds of residents had been killed in attacks across Plateau State between January and October 2026.
He said the victims represented families and communities whose lives had been devastated, stressing that government authorities must move beyond expressions of sympathy to practical security interventions.
Adebayo also criticised reports that Governor Mutfwang had addressed residents affected by insecurity from inside an armoured personnel carrier during an earlier engagement.
He described the reported incident as insensitive, arguing that political leaders should demonstrate greater solidarity with communities experiencing violence.
The SDP candidate accused the authorities of failing to deploy sufficient resources to prevent further attacks and demanded stronger protection for vulnerable settlements.
He urged security agencies to intensify operations against armed groups, strengthen intelligence gathering and ensure that perpetrators of violence are brought to justice.
Adebayo maintained that insecurity was also damaging economic development by disrupting farming, trade and other productive activities.
He argued that meaningful economic progress would remain difficult without adequate protection of lives and property.

Outlining his proposed approach, the presidential candidate said his security agenda would prioritise stronger institutions, restoration of government control in affected areas and measures addressing the socioeconomic conditions contributing to criminal activities.
The campaign council expressed sympathy with bereaved families and called for urgent intervention to prevent further casualties.
Adebayo maintained that safeguarding citizens must remain a fundamental responsibility of government, insisting that lasting peace was essential to national stability and prosperity.
