The senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of former Delta State Governor, Dr Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, describing his passing as a painful loss to his family, Delta State and Nigeria.

The former governor died on Monday morning, October 19, 2026, at the age of 71, according to a statement issued by his family and signed by Toju Anire Uduaghan.

In her condolence message, Akpoti-Uduaghan paid tribute to the late politician, describing him as a respected elder statesman, father figure and family patriarch whose contributions extended beyond politics and public administration.

She said his death had created a painful vacuum for relatives, friends and associates who benefited from his guidance, wisdom and personal relationships.

The senator noted that although Uduaghan held important political offices during his lifetime, his influence should also be measured by the lives he touched and the relationships he maintained.

She urged the bereaved family to find comfort in his years of service and the memories he left behind.

Akpoti-Uduaghan also extended her sympathies to his political associates, former colleagues and the people of Delta State, praying for strength and comfort for everyone mourning his death.

Uduaghan, who was born on October 22, 1954, died three days before his 72nd birthday.

A medical doctor and prominent political figure, he served as Delta State Commissioner for Health between 1999 and 2003 before becoming Secretary to the State Government from 2003 to 2007.

He subsequently became governor in May 2007 and completed two terms in office in May 2015.

During his administration, Uduaghan promoted policies and programmes focused on healthcare, education, infrastructure and economic diversification.

His family, in announcing his death, described him as a beloved father, brother, uncle and respected elder whose passing represented a significant loss.

The family expressed gratitude for his life and contributions to public service while seeking prayers and support during the period of mourning.

Uduaghan’s death has prompted tributes reflecting his years of involvement in Delta State’s political and administrative development.
