The Women Mobilisation Directorate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council has visited patients at two hospitals in Kaduna State as part of its grassroots engagement activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The outreach, led by former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr Betta Edu, formed part of activities organised ahead of the APC presidential campaign rally held in Kaduna on Saturday.
According to the organisers, the visits followed a directive from First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu to engage with women, children and other vulnerable patients receiving treatment.
The delegation visited Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital and Yusuf Dantsoho Memorial Hospital, where members interacted with patients, healthcare workers and hospital administrators.
Participants included Senators Binta Masi Garba and Abiodun Olujimi, along with Elizabeth Ogenyi, Ada Ode and Gloria Akobundu.
The Majority Leader of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Munirat Suleiman Tanimu, also joined the exercise.

During the visits, Edu highlighted healthcare programmes introduced under President Bola Tinubu’s administration, particularly initiatives aimed at reducing the financial burden of medical treatment.
She said pregnant women were benefiting from free maternal healthcare services in selected hospitals, including childbirth, Caesarean sections and prescribed medications.
Edu also cited government interventions involving subsidised renal dialysis and cancer treatment, describing them as efforts to make essential healthcare more affordable.
The former minister commended the First Lady’s Renewed Hope Initiative for supporting maternal healthcare through midwives’ training and the provision of medical equipment.
She maintained that such interventions were important to improving maternal health services and reducing preventable deaths.
According to the directorate, the visits were intended to offer encouragement to patients while drawing attention to healthcare challenges affecting women, children and vulnerable households.
The organisers reported that some beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the outreach and commended government programmes they believed had eased financial pressures on their families.

They also said some patients expressed support for Tinubu’s re-election and called for the expansion of free maternal healthcare services.
The directorate further reported positive comments about the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, which provides financial support to eligible students in tertiary institutions.
The hospital visits formed part of the APC women’s broader mobilisation activities, combining community outreach with information about policies under the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
While the delegation highlighted existing healthcare initiatives, the extent of their implementation and accessibility across individual hospitals was not independently assessed during the reported visits.
