The Anambra State Government, through the Anambra State Signage and Advertisement Agency (ANSAA), has released permit fees and guidelines for political campaigns ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Under the new framework, presidential candidates are required to pay N50 million for outdoor campaign permits, while senatorial candidates will pay N20 million. Other categories of political aspirants are expected to obtain corresponding approvals before engaging in outdoor political advertising.

The Assistant General Manager of ANSAA, Chika Ngobili, disclosed this on Friday during a press briefing at the agency’s headquarters in Awka.

Ngobili said the guidelines were introduced to regulate out-of-home political advertising, maintain environmental order, and ensure proper coordination of campaign activities across the state.

According to him, the agency is empowered to issue licences for signage and advertisement deployment, protect public infrastructure, maintain aesthetic standards, and generate revenue for the state government.

He added that all campaign materials for outdoor display must be vetted and approved by the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON) before deployment.

“The agency is formally informing political parties, candidates, advertising practitioners, media organisations and the general public about the Out-of-Home Promotions and Visual Campaign Guidelines for the 2027 general elections in Anambra State,” Ngobili said.

He warned political actors against defacing or destroying opponents’ campaign materials, describing such acts as unlawful and against democratic norms.

ANSAA also prohibited the erection of billboards or campaign structures except through registered and licensed advertising practitioners approved by ARCON and authorised by the agency.

The agency further cautioned against indiscriminate pasting of posters on public infrastructure such as bridges, road signs, schools, hospitals, and utility installations, noting that enforcement teams would monitor compliance throughout the election period.

Ngobili urged political stakeholders to conduct their campaigns peacefully and avoid actions capable of undermining democratic engagement, while calling on media practitioners to support orderly electoral advertising in the state.
