Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has met Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago in Minna over the deaths of 37 suspected illegal miners in the custody of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC.
During the visit on Friday, Disu commiserated with the government and people of Niger State and assured the governor of a thorough and transparent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The actual cause of the deaths has yet to be conclusively established.
