At least eight people are feared trapped following the collapse of a two-storey building in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, early Tuesday morning.
The incident reportedly occurred at about 5:30 a.m. in the Popo-Giwa, Madalasi Zhogoro area, off Sijikobi Road, in Ilorin West Local Government Area.
Sources said nursing mothers and children were among those believed to be inside the building when it collapsed.
Rescue efforts were immediately launched at the scene, with personnel from the Kwara State Fire Service, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and the State Emergency Management Agency joining residents in the operation.
Emergency officials were seen working to locate and evacuate anyone who may have been trapped beneath the rubble.
The cause of the collapse was not immediately known at the time of filing this report.
Authorities have yet to provide an official figure on casualties, while rescue operations are ongoing.
