GOV YUSUF PAYS TRIBUTE TO FORMER NFF CHAIRMAN IBRAHIM GALADIMA

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has expressed deep sorrow over the death of former Chairman of the Nigeria Football Federation, Ibrahim Galadima, describing his passing as a significant loss to Nigeria’s sporting and public service sectors.

Galadima died after a prolonged illness, drawing tributes from political leaders, sports administrators, and football enthusiasts across the country.

In a condolence message issued on Sunday through his Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad, Governor Yusuf said the late administrator lived a life marked by service, discipline, and unwavering commitment to national development.

According to the governor, Galadima distinguished himself as an accomplished sports administrator who contributed immensely to the growth of football in Nigeria.

During his tenure as NFF chairman, he oversaw key reforms and development efforts that strengthened the country’s football structure and enhanced its reputation within the global sporting community.

Governor Yusuf noted that beyond his achievements in football administration, Galadima was widely respected as a statesman and community leader who dedicated his time and energy to the progress of Kano State and Nigeria at large. He added that the late icon’s integrity, leadership qualities, and passion for service earned him admiration across different sectors.

“His legacy is one of dedication, honesty, and selfless service. He played a vital role in shaping Nigerian football and contributed meaningfully to public life. His passing is a huge loss not only to Kano State but to the entire nation,” the statement read.

The governor further emphasized that Galadima’s life and work would continue to inspire younger generations, particularly those involved in sports administration and leadership.

He said, on behalf of the government and people of Kano State, Governor Yusuf extended his heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased, as well as to the Nigerian football community”. He prayed for Almighty God to forgive Galadima’s shortcomings, grant him eternal rest, and admit him into Aljannatul Firdaus.

The death of Ibrahim Galadima marks the end of an era for Nigerian football in his regime, as stakeholders reflect on his enduring contributions and the legacy he leaves behind.
