The Nigeria Police Force, in collaboration with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), has uncovered and disrupted an examination malpractice syndicate during the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in Delta State.
The operation was carried out at the College of Education, Warri, following intelligence reports of attempts to compromise the examination process through technology-assisted fraud and unauthorised remote access to examination systems.

According to a statement issued on Friday by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Placid, preliminary investigations revealed that unauthorised remote access was illegally gained into candidates’ computer systems while the examination was in progress.
The police said intelligence-driven investigations and digital forensic analysis led to coordinated operations during which three suspects linked to the syndicate were arrested.
The suspects are currently in police custody and assisting investigators.
The statement added that investigations have uncovered the involvement of other examination centres suspected of having engaged in similar activities.
As part of immediate measures, JAMB has reportedly withdrawn results from affected centres pending the conclusion of investigations.
Candidates affected by the development are expected to be rescheduled for mop-up examinations in accordance with JAMB procedures.

The police warned candidates, examination centre operators and collaborators against engaging in examination malpractice, cyber-assisted fraud or unauthorised access to examination systems.
The Force reiterated its commitment to identifying, dismantling and prosecuting criminal networks seeking to undermine the integrity of Nigeria’s educational system.
