The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Lagos Free Trade Zone (LFTZ) Command, led a joint fitness exercise involving officers, sister agencies, and key stakeholders as part of efforts to promote health and workplace efficiency.

The initiative, held recently, brought together personnel from across agencies operating within the zone, highlighting a growing emphasis on physical wellbeing within the Service.

Speaking at the event, the Customs Area Controller, Hauwa Abubakar, said the exercise was aimed at improving officers’ physical fitness, boosting morale, and enhancing productivity.

According to Abubakar, the positive response from participants underscored the importance of such activities. She observed that officers appeared more energised and motivated, adding that the Command is committed to sustaining the initiative.

She also expressed appreciation to participating agencies and stakeholders for their support, as well as to the Lagos Free Zone for hosting and facilitating the exercise.

Participants, including Customs officers, described the session as refreshing and beneficial, noting its impact on their readiness for duty and overall morale.

Stakeholders and representatives from partner agencies commended the initiative, describing it as a unifying effort that promotes collective wellbeing across institutions.

In her remarks, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Lagos Free Zone, Adesuwa Ladoja, praised the programme, encouraged officers to prioritise their health.

She said the exercise serves as a reminder of the importance of staying active, adding that a healthy workforce is essential for sustained productivity. Ladoja also acknowledged the critical role of Customs in facilitating trade within the zone.
