There was pandemonium on Thursday following the death of a young man identified as Okorite Charles, in his mid-20s, at a hotel in Eagle Island Estate, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Family members and friends of the deceased reportedly stormed the hotel after receiving news of his death in the early hours of Thursday, demanding an explanation from the hotel management.
The situation was later brought under control following the arrival of police officers from the Azikiwe Police Division.
The deceased’s elder brother, identified as Obomate, told our reporters that the family was informed of Charles’ death at about 5 a.m.
According to him, when relatives arrived at the hotel, they found no visible evidence suggesting that Charles had fallen from the balcony, raising questions about the circumstances surrounding his death.
Obomate called for justice and urged the police to conduct a thorough investigation to establish the circumstances and actual cause of the young man’s death.
