A Leicester Crown Court has heard how a Nigerian university student, Khaleed Oladipo, was allegedly stabbed to death by a former friend following a dispute over money connected to a counterfeit Rolex watch.
Oladipo, 20, a third-year student at De Montfort University, was reportedly on the phone with his girlfriend when he was attacked on Oxford Street in Leicester on February 3.
The accused, 18-year-old University of Leicester student Harper Dennis, has denied the murder charge.
According to prosecutors, the two students had previously been friends after meeting through online gaming but later fell out over a financial dispute.

Prosecutor Jane Osborne KC told the court that Dennis believed Oladipo owed him £3,000 after an alleged fake Rolex watch he had received from Oladipo was rejected by a jeweller.
The prosecution said Dennis had attempted to sell the watch but became angry when the transaction failed, leading him to believe that Oladipo owed him the money.
Osborne alleged that Dennis later confronted Oladipo outside the De Montfort University Innovation Centre, where the pair briefly struggled before Oladipo was stabbed.
“It would seem the perceived debt was the reason that Harper Dennis attacked Khaleed Oladipo in the street,” the prosecutor told the court.
The court heard that Oladipo sustained six stab wounds, including five to his chest, with one of the wounds penetrating his heart.
Despite the attack, Oladipo reportedly remained on the phone with his girlfriend and questioned the attacker, asking, “Why did you come up and stab me?”

The prosecution further alleged that Dennis had made threatening telephone calls to Oladipo’s girlfriend before the killing and sent messages threatening to make Oladipo suffer.
Dennis was arrested shortly after the incident.
In addition to the murder charge, he is facing allegations of possessing a bladed article and failing to provide the PIN for his mobile phone.
The trial, which is expected to last about three weeks, is ongoing.
