United States President, Donald Trump has expressed confidence in the ability of the United States Men’s National Team (USMNT) to perform strongly at the ongoing FIFA World Cup.
Trump conveyed his support during a phone conversation with US head coach Mauricio Pochettino and members of the national team ahead of their World Cup fixture against Paraguay on Friday.
The call also involved Andrew Giuliani, Chief Executive Officer of the White House World Cup Task Force.
During the conversation, the President praised Pochettino for his achievements in football management and commended the quality of the American squad.
Trump said he believes the team possesses the talent and leadership required to progress deep into the tournament, expressing optimism about their chances of competing for the title.
He also extended his best wishes to the players and coaching staff, encouraging them as they continue their World Cup campaign.
