Troops of Operation Enduring Peace have arrested a suspected terrorist, identified as Abubakar Ango, during a stop-and-search operation in Kukawa village, Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The operation, carried out by troops of Sector 2 on November 4, 2026, resulted in the recovery of an AK-47 magazine, one round of 7.62mm ammunition, two mobile phones, suspected illicit substances and ₦30,000 in cash.
Security sources disclosed that the suspect was intercepted at approximately 8 a.m. while soldiers were conducting routine checks aimed at identifying suspected criminal elements and preventing the movement of weapons in the area.

According to the sources, a search conducted on Ango led to the discovery of the items, which were subsequently taken into military custody for further investigation.
Preliminary interrogation reportedly suggested that the suspect had links to an alleged terrorist network believed to be operating under an individual identified as Kaura.
However, the alleged connection has not been independently established, and authorities have yet to disclose evidence confirming the suspect’s membership of the group.
The sources said investigators were examining the recovered items and questioning Ango to determine whether he had participated in criminal activities or maintained contact with other suspected members of the network.
They added that efforts were ongoing to identify other individuals who might be connected to the alleged syndicate.
The arrest forms part of continuing military operations across Plateau State aimed at disrupting armed groups, restricting the movement of weapons and strengthening security in vulnerable communities.
Operation Enduring Peace has maintained patrols, surveillance and intelligence-led activities in several parts of the state in response to recurring security threats.
Security personnel have also continued to emphasise the importance of cooperation between residents and law enforcement agencies.

Members of the public have been encouraged to report suspicious movements and provide credible information that could assist ongoing investigations and security operations.
The military authorities are expected to determine the appropriate next steps following the conclusion of their investigation.
Meanwhile, the suspect remains in custody, and no court has established his involvement in terrorism or any related offence.
The allegations against him remain subject to investigation and the applicable legal process.
