President Bola Tinubu has departed Abuja for a state visit to Akwa Ibom, where he is scheduled to inaugurate major infrastructure projects executed by Governor Umo Eno’s administration.

The visit, which combines official engagements with political activities, will also take the President to Rivers State on Saturday.

According to a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu will inaugurate projects spanning aviation, transportation, healthcare, security, technology and tourism.

Among the facilities scheduled for commissioning are the new International Terminal Building, International Airport Hospital and Ibom Aviation Village at Victor Attah International Airport in Uyo.

The projects form part of the Akwa Ibom State Government’s efforts to expand aviation infrastructure and improve services at the airport.

Tinubu is also expected to inaugurate the Airport–Okopedi Road, connecting communities in Nsit Atai and Okobo Local Government Areas.

Another major project is Ring Road 3, which links Idoro Road to Ikot Ekpene Road through Uyo and Ibiono Ibom.

Other facilities listed for inauguration include the AKWA-GIS Office Complex, the Command and Control Centre and the ARISE Palm Resort.

The Presidency said the projects reflected the state government’s investment in public infrastructure, administration, security and tourism development.

Ahead of the visit, Governor Eno declared Friday, November 6, a work-free day to enable residents to participate in activities organised to receive the President.

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command also announced security arrangements, including restrictions on drone operations, fireworks and traffic movement in parts of Uyo.

Beyond the inauguration ceremonies, Tinubu is scheduled to attend an All Progressives Congress political rally in the state as preparations intensify for the 2027 general election.

The President is expected to proceed to Port Harcourt on Saturday, November 7, for another APC rally.

According to the Presidency, the Rivers State engagement will be Tinubu’s third campaign rally since he flagged off his re-election campaign in Kaduna in October.

Onanuga said the two-state visit would also provide opportunities for the President to engage political stakeholders, party officials and supporters.

The Presidency maintained that the engagements would emphasise national unity, political stability and continued cooperation between the Federal Government and participating states.
