Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has inaugurated the Tinubu/Alia 2027 Campaign Council, declaring that another term for himself and President Bola Tinubu would provide an opportunity to consolidate ongoing development projects.
The inauguration took place on Thursday, November 5, at IBB Square in Makurdi, with Hon. Citizen Richard Asema appointed Director-General of the campaign council.
The event was followed by the commissioning of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Campaign Office in Wurukum, Makurdi.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, Alia urged members of the council to demonstrate unity, commitment and discipline as the All Progressives Congress prepares for the 2027 general elections.
He called on party members to resolve internal disagreements and work collectively towards the party’s electoral objectives.
The governor described Asema as an experienced political figure capable of coordinating campaign activities across the state.
Highlighting his administration’s performance, Alia credited cooperation with the Federal Government for what he described as progress in security, education, healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure and industrial development.
He specifically acknowledged federal security interventions, which he said had contributed to efforts to restore peace in communities affected by insecurity.
The governor listed the recruitment of 9,700 primary school teachers, improvements in educational infrastructure, regular payment of salaries and pensions, and road construction among his administration’s achievements.
On infrastructure, Alia claimed that efforts to connect all 23 local government areas through road networks were approximately 75 per cent complete, with about 25 per cent of the planned work outstanding.
He also cited work on previously abandoned projects, including Taraku Mills, the International Conference Centre at IBB Square and the Cancer Centre at Benue State University Teaching Hospital.
According to him, his administration would prioritise the completion and sustainability of existing projects if re-elected, rather than introducing entirely new development programmes.

Alia further identified agriculture, industrialisation, education, healthcare and commerce as priorities for strengthening the state’s economy.
He expressed optimism that Benue’s agricultural resources and emerging oil and gas prospects could help increase internally generated revenue and reduce dependence on federal allocations.
The governor maintained that continuity in leadership would support the implementation of his administration’s development agenda, which began in 2023.
The inauguration marks a further step in the APC’s preparations for the 2027 elections in Benue State.
