President Bola Tinubu has expressed condolences to the government and people of Sokoto State following a boat accident in Gorau Community, Goronyo Local Government Area, which claimed several lives and left others missing.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described the incident as a tragic loss and sympathised with the families of the victims.
“The news of this boat mishap deeply saddens me. My thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families during this difficult time,” Tinubu said.
He prayed for the repose of the souls of those who died and asked God to give their families the strength to bear the loss.

The President also commended emergency responders and local authorities for their efforts in rescuing survivors and recovering victims.
Tinubu directed relevant Federal Government agencies, including the National Inland Waterways Authority and the National Emergency Management Agency, to work with the Sokoto State Government to strengthen safety measures on the nation’s waterways and prevent a recurrence.
He further prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured and assured the people of Sokoto State of the Federal Government’s support during the difficult period.
