The Commissioner of Police in Akwa Ibom State, Baba Mohammed Azare, has reaffirmed the readiness of the Nigeria Police Force to protect the integrity of elections and ensure the safety of voters during electoral processes in the state.
Azare gave the assurance while receiving the Resident Electoral Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Akwa Ibom State, Anugbum Onuoha, during a courtesy visit to the State Police Command Headquarters in Uyo.
During the meeting, the police commissioner stressed the importance of continued collaboration between security agencies and the electoral body, noting that both institutions share responsibility for ensuring credible, peaceful, and transparent elections.

According to him, the police remain committed to professionalism, fairness, and the rule of law in the discharge of their electoral duties, adding that the command understands the importance of safeguarding citizens’ votes during elections.
Azare also commended the existing working relationship between the police command and INEC in Akwa Ibom State, stating that the partnership has contributed to strengthening democratic processes and protecting the rights of voters.
In his remarks, Prof. Onuoha praised the Akwa Ibom State Police Command for its support and cooperation, expressing confidence that the visit would further deepen collaboration between both institutions ahead of future electoral activities.

According to him, the engagement forms part of ongoing efforts by stakeholders in the state to enhance coordination and maintain public confidence in the electoral process.
