Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, Rivers State All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, Kingsley Chinda, and their supporters on Tuesday met with Governor Siminalayi Fubara and members of his political camp in Port Harcourt.
The closed-door meeting formed part of continuing efforts to consolidate reconciliation among political actors in Rivers State following years of disagreements that divided major political blocs in the state.
Wike and Chinda arrived at the governor’s residence at about 4 p.m. alongside their supporters, where they joined Fubara and members of his camp for discussions.
The meeting lasted about four hours and brought together key figures from the political groups previously divided by the prolonged crisis in the state.
It marked the first known occasion in the ongoing reconciliation process in which Fubara personally hosted a meeting bringing together his supporters and Wike’s political camp.

The engagement followed earlier reconciliation meetings involving the governor and members of the Rainbow Coalition reconciliation committee.
Fubara and Wike had been at the centre of a prolonged political disagreement that affected the state’s political structure and relations between the executive and the Rivers State House of Assembly.
Efforts to resolve the differences have intensified ahead of the 2027 general elections, with several meetings held between leaders and supporters of the different camps.
Wike and Fubara also held a meeting in Port Harcourt in August as part of the reconciliation process.
Details of Tuesday’s discussions were not immediately made public, and participants had yet to disclose any specific resolutions reached at the meeting.
