White House correspondent Steve Holland has reflected on his experience covering the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, describing the moment as a turning point that changed the course of history.
Holland recalled the atmosphere of uncertainty and fear as events unfolded, saying he immediately sensed that the United States had entered a new era marked by conflict and heightened security concerns.
“It was a moment that I could tell that history had changed, that we were going to be on a war footing now. The hair on the back of my neck literally went up,” Holland said.
The veteran journalist, who covered the White House during the aftermath of the attacks, said the events of that day reshaped global politics, U.S. foreign policy and the way journalists covered national security issues.
Twenty-five years after the attacks, memories of the tragedy remain significant as the world continues to reflect on the impact of September 11 and the lives lost during one of the defining moments of the 21st century.
