The South African Police Service (SAPS) has announced the extradition of six Nigerians suspected of belonging to the Black Axe organised crime network to the United States.

The suspects were handed over to US authorities following investigations into their alleged involvement in organised criminal activities linked to the international network.

SAPS said the extradition forms part of ongoing cooperation between South Africa and international law enforcement agencies in tackling transnational organised crime.

The Black Axe group has been identified by several law enforcement agencies as a criminal network operating across multiple countries, with allegations including fraud and other organised crimes.

Authorities said further legal proceedings against the suspects will be handled by the relevant US judicial authorities.
