Six family members of suspected Boko Haram terrorists have surrendered to troops of Operation HADIN KAI in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State after fleeing the Wa’a terrorist enclave in the Mandara Mountains.
Military sources said the six individuals, comprising three adults and three children, surrendered in two separate groups on July 24.
According to the sources, troops recovered school certificates, two torchlights and a total of ₦712,000 from the surrendered family members.
The individuals are currently undergoing profiling and security screening to determine their identities and gather intelligence.
The military said the latest surrender underscores the sustained pressure being mounted on terrorist enclaves in the Mandara Mountains, which has continued to force insurgents and their families to abandon their hideouts.
