The Accord Party in Kwara State has predicted that the Rainbow Coalition will struggle to gain electoral support ahead of the 2027 general elections, citing alleged political contradictions and weak grassroots structures.

The party’s State Publicity Secretary, Olamilekan Esinrogunjo, asserted in a statement on Sunday, describing the coalition as an alliance driven by political interests rather than clear policies.

Esinrogunjo questioned the coalition’s reported opposition to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara while supporting President Bola Tinubu at the national level.

“You cannot claim to be opposition in Kwara and, at the same time, ask the same people to support the APC at the presidential level,” he said.

He argued that political defections and endorsements would not automatically translate into electoral victories.

“Politicians can move from one party to another, but votes do not move automatically with them,” Esinrogunjo stated.

The spokesman also questioned the coalition’s alleged efforts to revive the political influence of former Senate President Bukola Saraki, urging its leaders to explain their plans for the state.

He maintained that the 2027 elections would be determined by credible candidates, grassroots support and policies addressing residents’ needs.

Esinrogunjo reaffirmed Accord’s intention to present itself as an alternative, stressing that Kwara voters would ultimately decide the outcome of the elections.
