2027 presidential aspirant of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Peter Obi, has expressed sorrow over the passing of Lt. Gen. Chikadibia Isaac Obiakor, describing him as a respected soldier, patriot, and one of Nigeria’s finest international peacekeepers.
In a condolence message, Obi said the late military officer served Nigeria with exceptional bravery, discipline, and integrity, representing the country with distinction both at home and at the United Nations.
According to him, he had interacted with the late General only a few weeks ago and even referenced him during a public event last Monday, making the news of his death even more shocking.
Obi noted that the life of Lt. Gen. Obiakor was defined by sacrifice, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to peace and humanity. He added that the late officer’s contributions to the Nigerian military and global peacekeeping missions inspired many officers and young Nigerians to embrace service and patriotism.
He extended his heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased, the Nigerian Armed Forces, and all Nigerians mourning the loss.
“May God grant his noble soul eternal rest and give strength to his loved ones during this difficult time,” Obi stated.
