Residents of Akum Ward in Nasarawa State have appealed to President Bola Tinubu to intervene following the alleged killing of a young farmer by suspected armed herders.
A community member, Yahaya Kana Ismaila, said the victim was attacked and killed while returning from his farm on July 4, an incident he claimed has heightened fear among residents already displaced by previous attacks in the area.

According to him, the latest incident occurred in the same axis where more than 80 people were reportedly killed in a series of attacks earlier this year, forcing many residents to flee their communities.
Ismaila alleged that displaced residents have been unable to return home due to persistent insecurity and the continued presence of the suspected attackers. He also claimed that no arrests have been made in connection with the earlier attacks despite repeated calls for justice.
He expressed concern that the renewed violence could trigger reprisals if urgent steps are not taken to restore security.
The community member further accused the Nasarawa State Government of downplaying the earlier attacks by describing them as communal clashes, insisting the assaults were targeted and had devastated several communities.
Appealing directly to President Tinubu, Ismaila called on the Federal Government to strengthen security in the affected areas and ensure that those responsible for the attacks are arrested and prosecuted.

He also urged the member representing the area in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Gaza Gbefwi, to continue drawing the attention of relevant authorities to the worsening security situation.
As of the time of filing the report, neither the Nasarawa State Government nor security agencies had officially responded to the allegations surrounding the latest killing.
