Antiguian-American model and musician, Aariana Rose Philip marked a milestone moment at this year’s Met Gala, attending the prestigious fashion event for the first time while her likeness was already on display inside the museum.

Philip served as the model for one of 25 mannequins featured in the “Costume Art” exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, making her presence at the event both symbolic and historic.

Speaking during Vogue’s red carpet livestream, Philip revealed the process behind the exhibit, noting that her entire body was digitally scanned from “head to toe” to create the mannequin.

Reflecting on the moment, she described it as deeply affirming. “I feel really held and recognised and understood, finally, and valued by my industry that I love and I’ve contributed so much to,” she said.

Philip added that the experience felt like “a homecoming,” describing it as “full circle” and “aligned,” underscoring the significance of her journey within the global fashion industry.
