In a move to strengthen the newly established Ministry of Aviation and Airport Development, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Umo Eno has approved the appointment of Mr Uwem Ekanem as Special Adviser on Aviation and Airport Development.
The appointment, which takes immediate effect from May 4, 2026, was announced in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Enobong Uwah.
According to the statement, Ekanem will oversee the affairs of the ministry pending the appointment of a substantive commissioner. The development follows the recent creation of the Ministry of Aviation and Airport Development by the state government, a step seen as part of broader efforts to enhance infrastructure and boost economic growth through improved air transport systems.
The government expressed confidence in Ekanem’s ability to provide the necessary leadership during the interim period and wished him success in his new role.
